Prosperous Denbighshire encourages social enterprises to innovate, adopt energy efficient and low carbon technologies, and trial new products, processes and service delivery.
The fund will enable business expansion and growth, support the introduction of innovative technologies and new ways of doing businesses.
About the grant:
The Prosperous Denbighshire – Social Enterprise Growth and Innovation Grant Scheme will offer funding up to 90% on eligible CAPITAL expenditure for projects with awards offered from £1,000 up to £9,000.
This enhanced grant scheme is discretionary and will be operated on a first come first serve basis dependent upon availability of funds and completion of the project within the detailed timeframe.
All offers of funding will be subject to approval of applications by a Grants Review Panel
Who can apply?
Prosperous Denbighshire – Social Enterprise Growth and Innovation Grant Scheme will provide financial grant support to trading social enterprises who operate within Denbighshire.
What is a Social Enterprise?
A social enterprise is “a business with primarily social objectives whose surpluses are principally reinvested for that purpose in the business or in the community, rather than being driven by the need to maximise profit for shareholders and owners.”

Prosperous Denbighshire is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund through the ‘supporting local business’ investment priority. The project aim is aligned to the UKSPF aims to boost productivity, pay, jobs and living standards by growing the private sector, with focus on supporting micro and small enterprises within Denbighshire.
The objectives are:
- Creating jobs and boosting community cohesion, through investments that build on existing industries and institutions, and range from support for starting businesses to visible improvements to local retail, hospitality and leisure sector facilities.
- Increasing private sector investment in growth-enhancing activities, through targeted support for micro and small businesses to undertake new-to-firm innovation, adopt productivity-enhancing, energy efficient and low carbon technologies and techniques; and start or grow their exports.
About the grant:
The fund will directly support micro and small enterprises in Denbighshire by providing two grant schemes towards costs relating to the introduction of new products or processes:
- Larger projects: 70% capital and revenue grant, with a maximum total project spend of £50,000 (which would be £35,000 grant funds and £15,000 applicant cash match funding). There is a minimum grant application value of £3,000.
- Micro business Start Up & Small Business grant: up to 100% revenue grant with a maximum total project spend of £2,000. To enable the fund to reach as many businesses as possible, a cash match contribution will score higher at panel. There is a minimum grant application value of £1,000.
Who can apply?
Existing micro & small businesses, new business start-ups and social enterprises will be eligible to apply.
The project will enable enterprises to innovate; adopt energy efficient and low carbon technologies; and trial new products, processes and service delivery. There will be a focus on business expansion, supporting the introduction of innovative technologies and new ways of doing businesses.
